Too many options

"Sometimes I can feel my bones straining under the weight of all the lives I'm not living" - Jonathan Safran Foer.

Oof. I think this quote hits home for many of us.

There are so many career paths to consider, so many courses to take. So many incredible books to read, podcasts to listen to and tasks to do.

But something curious happens when we try to do it all... we end up not really doing any of it.

Put another way, when we're wistfully thinking of the lives we're NOT living, we miss out on the only one we actually HAVE.

When you read the books, take the courses and listen to the podcasts...

What are you doing it all FOR?

What are you hoping to find? Hoping to feel?

Consuming all these things is meant to be a part of our lives, and is meant to enhance our lives.

So as soon as it's no longer fulfilling that role; when it's actually getting in the way of you living your life or making you more miserable than lit up - it's time to rethink your relationship with what you're consuming.

You don't HAVE to do any of it.

So now that you know that... what do you WANT to do (if anything)? What feels exciting or meaningful to learn next?

Let me know in the comments! I really love hearing from clinicians and I personally read and respond to each one 💌
